Perfect for nervous back-seat drivers!

Have you seen the most recent Practical Classics Andy? It's got the guy who built the double-ended 75 in it and a couple of his other creations, a 75 Pick-Up and the one the feature is about, his creation of the Rover 75 Coupé and a very nice job he's made of it too!

Would be great to get yours and his side by side - that would cause a few neck aches!  :D
I was driven in it a few weeks back in the dark and it would have been nice to have some dash lights, hence why i thought it would be cool to wire it up, the rev counter and speedo are pretty cool as well. I did wire up the fuel gauge but the current drain was too much and dragged down the front fuel gauge down to a lower level than it was, so disconnected both the fuel and temp gauge.
Only needed to wire up 6 wires to make it work :D

I might have to buy that recent version of practical classics magazine, i hear Gerry might be making another project car ;)

Wiring up the fuel gauge would definitely make a nervous back-seat driver panic!

Especially as the resistance of the sender is shared by two gauges so would read about 50% of what it should be - not quite but roughly.

I've got a subscription to PC, much cheaper and it drops through the door every 4 weeks so i've had this one about a week now. Worth buying the latest one if only for the 75 Coupe but you could possibly get yours featured as well. THe editor is currently running an 825D so that might give you an "in" as well! :D
Cheers,
Dave

Yeah right!! The tank is too small as it is (~35l), i don't need half of half of half if that makes sense :P

A couple of weeks ago i emptied 2 x 750ml cans of Dynax S50 inside the sills, emptied another can on the inside of the Sterling's sills.

To reach the middle section on the ROVOR i connected 2 x 60cm lances together, saved me unbolting the middle doors and the spray from the 120cm lance was just as good as the 60cm lance :)

As 35L is half the size of a standard 800 tank i do get the half of half of half. It's only the gauge reading though so not too much to worry about.

Just so you know, the full reading resistance is 20 ohms, empty is 290 ohms so a 270 ohm swing total. You could try adding a 22 ohm resistor between the earth side of the sender and earth with a 270 ohm resistor between the two sender terminals to get both gauges to read somewhere near correctly - without resorting to other means that's about the best compromise but might be easier in the long run to just tell your back-seat drivers the fuel gauge doesn't work in the back!

Good call on the rustproofing - like your style doubling up on lance length! :D
Cheers,
Dave

I'll probably leave it as is but cheers for the info Dave :)

I am considering switching the earth feed so i can turn off the rear clocks so as not to be a bigger drain on the outputs, it works fine but i don't need them on when no one isn't in the rear.
