Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)
Fingers crossed it solves your problem Henrik, those CKP sensors are NLA (some places in the USA occasionally have aftermarket versions but rarely) but luckily they are usually reliable.
The ECU could have been partly immersed in water if the sunroof ever leaked or it could just be a dry joint in it - so much more to go wrong inside an ECU than a sensor.
Now i know why i went white overnight - i had the Sterling at the time!

Update on the PGMFI-light.
I got a replacement ECU about a week ago and today I managed to swap it with my old. At first the light went on and I couldnt get it out But when I returned home I made new resetting by pulling fuse S and after that the light is off! I have only driven it for a few short runs so I’m not yet convinced But hopefully the new ECU has solved my problem! So many Thanks to the guru Dave who came with the Idea! Fingers crossed it stays out!

It's quite common (i should have mentioned it) to have to reset a new/replacement ECU to give it a "fresh start" Henrik, hopefully that should be the problem solved for you now!Manalishi wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 4:28 pmUpdate on the PGMFI-light.

The light is back on…
Any ideas on the OE number on the crank shaft sensor?

Have you read the codes to confirm it's the same fault?

Yes Dave. It’s still 9 blinks. However the car runs without any problem. We went for a long trip this weekend toa car show and made som 640km in one day, without the slightest hesitation.

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)
Now you've put some distance on it Henrik, try resetting by pulling fuse S again, it may be an anomaly that triggered it again, especially as it ran well for that distance. I'm guessing it gave good fuel economy on the trip as well?

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)
Yes Dave, quite ok fuel economy at 7.8l/100km which is good.
I haven’t reset the fuse yet as I don’t drive the car as much But I’ll give it a go. However there have been a few occasions over these months where the car does some kangaroo cut outs of a microsecond so something is wrong.
Would the CPS be equal as a Legend 2.7? Does it make any difference If I could get a later CPS from a car with cat? I presume not But still asking…

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)
The Legend 2.7 usees the same CPS Henrik, yes. The kangaroo cut-outs could be down to the old ECU but there may be a wiring problem too, the CPS doesn't often fail although it can do.
I believe (though not 100% certain) the 1996 on Accord V6 (USA model) uses the same sensor in the C27 engine, not to be confused with the later J30 in the next gen Honda Accord Coupe as the 5th gen (same as the Rover 600 although there was never a 600 Coupe) used the remaining C27 engines originally intended for the 827 until BMW did their agressive take-over of Rover.
As such :

That should be the right one....................

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)
Thanks Dave excellent info!
Actually we’ve had the australian ride with both new and old ECU so I dare say it’s not the ECU. Unfortunately.
I’ll look into the CPS in the link, Thanks again!

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)
You're welcome Henrik, as the fault isn't so obvious with the newer ECU, i'd suggest there is probably a latent fault with the original ECU and probably an intermittent wiring fault or the CPS is beginning to go. Sometimes faults like this can be the result of two or more items going slightly out of spec from roginal and the only option is to replace both.
Good luck with it, Rock Auto do a money back guarantee so if for any reason that turns out to be the wrong sensor it won't be a total loss - pretty convinced it should be the right one though.

The Black Beast as a working horse.
The PGMFI light still comes on from time to time. It seems starting the car hot the light stays out, starting from cold it’s there. There are some kangaroo when it’s cold in the lower rev range But we have decided not to mess with it. It really isn’t used that much and mostly from point A to A.
This summer has been Austin summer too, so very little Rover on the road…
Ps. It just had it’s fifth birthday in my possession. Five years just flew by! Additional pic from that day five years ago.
