Good news, indeed we sometimes forget to look at the simplest.

I'm going to look at my car ...

Forgot to add that my key doesn't work on TB2 either.

Now TB2 is MOT'd and behaving, I am getting some bodywork tidied up in April. I therefore decided to get the Crankshaft oil Seal (or Oil pump seal) repaired before it went in. The garage has just called to say it's not the crank/oil pump one but the camshaft seals. Luckily Rimmers have them at a few quid each so I have ordered them.

Next job is on the Turbo Coupe to stop the sunroof (or somewhere) letting water to the car.

Nothing to report on TGM except a flickering intermittent warning on the dash which I think is the handbrake switch loose or shorting.

The ingress of the wet stuff is almost certainly the sunroof drains Scott, i've done a write up somewhere on a permanent fix for them - wise to do all 4, one in each kickpanel in the front, the other two are in the boots just behind the wheelarches and have done. There might be other causes but those are generally the first port of call.

Check your brake fluid level on TGM, it might be a bit low causing the sensor to just about make the circuit sometimes. :D
Cheers,
Dave

Of course it depends where the car is getting wet. If it's the front footwells, then almost certainly sunroof drain points but it could also be the windscreen (or surrounding metal work), particularly if the headliner is getting damp or the air intake chamber. It could be the sunroof tray itself where the exit pipes are welded to the tray but I think that is less common.

You have my sympathy, I have been intensively chasing leaks for the last several years in the fastbacks. I have just fitted some additional vapour barriers (plastic sheets) to the inside of the door cavity, covering the access apertures as water was falling onto the OEM barrier, running down and either pooling or leaking into the car that way!

The rear floor was soaking in the Coupe.
Funny but our Fastback (TGM) is dry, but haunted!

I'd definitely look at the rear sunroof drains in the boot Scott! :D

Well Dave, your "Psychic Mechanic" status is alive and well as I just needed to put a bit of fluid in the reservoir to cure the flickering warning light on TGM!

No leaks visible, possibly just pad wear.

Good to know it was something simple Scott! I can't take too much credit though, it's a common 800 idiosynchrosy as the switch is quite sensitive at the changeover point.
Cheers,
Dave

Nice - my handbrake warning light is snagged somewhere. It doesn't come on when pulled on, illuminates when about 0.5mm off the rest position, and then doesn't illuminate when pushed down hard.

Need to take centre console apart to get at it cleanly, but....well, I'll do it another day....

Picked up TB2 today. Camshaft oil seals done and new cam belt while it was off. Let's see if the drips on the drive stop.
Oh, someone has backed into or hit the front bumper on TGM while parked. Recently painted bumper now cracked and paint lifted.

Bummer about the bumper Scott! Hopefully TB2 will lose its "Exxon Valdez status" now! :D

Water in the boot is often caused by poor seals on the rear lights. A little silicon grease when refitting (or even a smear of sealant) can help.

It's a bit of a sickener regarding the bumper, people have no respect :( . The number of times my bumpers are damaged is unbelievable, usually the corners where folk misjudge parking. But to crack it, that's a fair whack and 'whoever' must've known.

But then, it doesn't matter, it's just a crummy old Rover...
