Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe
There does seem to be a bit more slack on the clutch pedal than the other two. A bit of movement before the actuation starts.

Could well be worth investigating that before removing the gearbox then!

Definitely! I think we have a boroscope at work, so might have to borrow that too.

Sounds like a good plan - i was thinking, if you drop the starter motor out you should be able to poke the boroscope in the hole and see what's happening.

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe
Take a look at my thread.
The hole on the clutch pedal which accepts the through bolt and clevis pin for connecting the pedal to the master cylinder piston is supposed to have a plastic bush in it. However, almost none of them do any more. If you look at the Rimmers website, there's no sign of it either.

Without something to take up the slack, the hole deforms and you create a huge amount of play.

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe
Silly question Scott, you've had an assistant push the clutch pedal while you observe the release arm?

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe
Yes I have observed it when bleeding. Seems to travel OK. When I moved the operating arm manually it made a sort of clang when the slack was taken up and repeated it as I manipulated the arm.
Might try the pedal next before surgery. The seat does reach the stops on the rails but the driving position is different to the other two cars and just not quite right. I still feel I need to go forward a bit!

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe
Update: Driving today I moved the seat back and forth, there was a crack and it now moves as it should! Now can adjust until it feels right and makes the clutch issue less of a problem. Relief!

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe
Sounds very like a hidden piece of grit got vibrated out of the way and you moving the seat gave it the final nudge/crack.
Now you can move the seat all the way backwards and forwards, it mightpay to remove it and give it a good clean underneath and check the runners as well.

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe
Coupe Air con: Hot weather showing the air con not as good as TGM. Had it tested today and there is a leak on the condenser. No prob, get one bought... The Vitesse one is different to the fastback due to the turbo intercooler! Measured the one on TGM and it is 610 mm between the top mounts and the condenser is the same width of 610 mm. The one on the Coupe is 550 mm between the mounts and only 500 mm wide at the core (to make way for the intercooler), so the "normal" ones don't fit. Both are 350mm high. Searching Rimmers, Bay of E, has not come up with one yet that I can see.
Dave. Help please!

Have a look at this one Scott :
https://www.autodoc.co.uk/aks-dasis/1726884
It's listed for the 825SD but Rimmers list the same part number for both petrol and diesel turbo models. Nowhere (as you've already found) seems to list a petrol turbo one.

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe
Thanks Dave. The measurements don't seem to tie in so I'll double check mine later. Might have to see about refurbishment of the current one.

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe
I think you'll find they do tie in Scott - i made this mistake as well. You're measuring overall size - 500 x 350 total, correct?
The size quoted in the listing is the core size. This is where i came unstuck when hunting down a manual radiator for my Sterling. I'd measured overall dimensions as well. It was only when i found a listing on ebay that showed the overall dimensions and the core size that i realised the discrepancy.
Looking at the anatomy of the A/C condenser, there'a rail top and bottom about 10mm so 20mm to add on to the core height of 330mm wich is the 350mm you've measured.
Each end there are more substantial brackets ~20mm each so ~40mm to add on to the quoted size of 457mm which gives ~497mm - close enough to your tape-measured 500mm to be negligible.
Worth checking out before giving yourself a headache trying to find one that won't fit when you get it!

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe
James (n1tr0_9 on here) managed to get a new a/c condenser for my Vitesse a couple of years ago. Think it came from Germany, so worth dropping him a line.
