already asked him, he won't start breaking the car soon.
Called a local company that is the biggest in Estonia and asked them for a spare. The clerk on the phone answered me with no further fuss:"pal, you are screwed." They also told me that the could fix the car with new plexi that looks almost as good as the original and it would cost me about 5quid for the plexi and I'd have to install it myself.
I need a driving car as I am about to move to another town and as my main mechanic friend joined the army. Was thinking of what you'd call heresy, trading the boat in for a 2.2turbo Saab diesel After calculating the mpg, fuel prices etc I came to the conclusion that driving the Saab would be 4 times cheaper per mile. The problem is the saab costs almost twice as much, so it would take ages before the saving on the fuel would make up for the higher price. If I manage to get a job, I might just leave the boat as a project car since it would be worth about 2-3 months salary.

put on new rear pads and am confronted with another problem - still no handbrake or rear brakes for that matter. All calipers move smoothly, the handbrake handle takes some grunt to be pulled to the upmost position, does it mean that there is no slack or that the cable is stuck somewhere?
The strength of the handbrake at the moment is not enough to keep the car from rolling down a gentle slope when in drive. On gravel the handbrake should lock up the rear wheels. I tried getting the wheels to block with normal braking, fronts locked up (no abs hehe) but the rear ones kept spinning.
Will it be a good idea to re-tension the handbrake cable or are the brakes mushy because the pads haven't worn in?

There's a thread on here showing how to setup your handbrake properly.
Good idea to have a look at that and see if it helps.

Almost guaranteed caliper problem, much more common than problems with the cables, there is a full rebuild guide in the Suspension / Braking section, however you don't usually need to go that far.
Just freeing up the cable to caliper clevis and freeing up the handbrake levers on the calipers usually sorts it, you may need to spray plenty of WD40 behind the seal at the bottom of the handbrake levers.

Will check the ECU LED.
Since I am a photographer and I'll be doing all the repairs together with a good friend of mine, I'll post some updates .... one day.
