Re: Manalishis 820 Vitesse Coupe
Holy thread revival!
Gearbox back on the bench to get put together again and hopefully I’ll get some spare time to give the coupe a good clean and some polish during the holidays. Plan is a thorough machine polish and maybe getting the chrome trim strips fixed. I need this car working in 2021! 2020 was the worst year ever so hoping for spring -21!

Yup I've got all the bearings and seals plus some other stuff. I just hope I remember how it was before I stripped it!scoobyh123 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 8:32 pmLooking good there Henrik! Is that a set of diff bearings and seals i see?

As long as you don't end up with one forward gear and 5 reverse you should be ok Henrik!

Finally back home Again. Unfortunately not as good as I hoped for so it will need some spanners and cash.

Re: Manalishis 820 Vitesse Coupe
Yes a bit. There is something wrong with the front suspension. I need to investigate it further but it could be lower balljoints or something That is loose. I need it up in the air to wiggle things around.scoobyh123 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 12:51 pmThat's disappointing Henrik, i know you were looking forard to getting it back "all systems go" - what isn't right?
At least it’s very clean and the box is probably allright as most bearings are changed.
Also, the car has been stationary for two years so it needs the usual check ups and service.

Re: Manalishis 820 Vitesse Coupe
Gut feeling says anti roll bar drop links, especially if the noise is more prevalent when going over uneven bumps. They make a hell of a clatter and bang when they're shot.
Worth checking the bottom ball joints and if they are ok for play, regreasing them anyway. Seen a lot of them with little or no grease.
Hopefully it's quick, simple and cheap to sort out!

Re: Manalishis 820 Vitesse Coupe
Probably worse than that Dave, I suspect the engine mounts. Rear lower likely. But I can’t find them At Rimmers as they seem to be OOS.

Re: Manalishis 820 Vitesse Coupe
Can you get me a pic of the dodgy engine mount please Henrik? I'll have a look through my other sources and try to hunt one down for you.
Also don't ignore the "dog-bone" engine mount at the top. More of a damper than anything, it prevents excessive engine/transmission "rock" on acceleration/deceleration. Also the front engine mount takes a lot more strain than the rear one but that usually makes itself known with vibration while the engine is running.
Out of curiosity, did they remove the brake reaction bars aka tie rods from the lower wishbones to the front crossmember for any reason? Could be they refitted the bushes the wrong way round as they fit counter-intuitively - instead of the tapered end fitting into the taper socket as you'd expect, they fit with the "fat" end of the bushes into the socket.

Re: Manalishis 820 Vitesse Coupe
Tie Rod bushes are a good guess. I changed them for poly bushes some 8-10years ago and I remember they were a bit different. I might get new original bushes for it.
Not sure which engine mount But I was feeling movement in the top tie bar behind the engine-firewall. And the front lower as you say might have some movement too. Neither is available at rimmers. As you can see below the number 6 isn't even in the list. Same with the top tie bar bush.

Re: Manalishis 820 Vitesse Coupe
Rimmers only list the front tie rod/brake reaction bar bushes Henrik but i found them both listed (with both options, standard and 820 Vitesse) on allbrit.de :
https://allbrit.de/xepc.cfm?PAGE=86642& ... ACHE=EN#14
Items #13 and #14, second option each for the 820 Vitesse. It shows the counterintuitive fitement detail as well!
With the "dog-bone" or tie bar between engine/gearbox and bulkhead, there is in fact meant to be a small amount of play in them to cope with the natural slight rocking of the engine/box. If they were stiff, they would knock a hole in the bulkhead in no time! There are different bushes for the various different engines AND gearbxes too! For example, the bushes in the dog bone for the 827 manual are different to those in the 827 auto. The ones for the 820 variants are different yet again, depending on manual/auto and turbo/non-turbo.
One problem with the allbrit listings are they don't include part numbers so if you do happen to buy them, would you let me know the part numbers please?
