I might have missed it, but what problem were you having with the heater?

Hope the exhaust gets sorted. I tend to be lucky with exhausts, but I won't speak to soon !

I'm really getting old. I spent 15 minutes on my back under the car to cut the pipe on friday afternoon. Now my back is totally busted. I have a bad back but I've never had this problem after only 10-15 minutes. So as it is now the pipe is cut very nicely and square, but I can't get the rest done just yet. So, the car rests and I can't drive it. :(

This is the cutter tool I mentioned. Very useful as you only have to turn maybe 30-45 degrees to make the cut. The pipe can be cut still on the car.

Never seen a pipe cutter like that. That could be very useful.

i've used a chainrench type before ( discs in the chain ) but not seen one like that before :)

I managed to get the stepped pipe on tonight and just went for a small test drive. I think it still blows in some other places but it will work fine during winter.
Also put on some nice chrome exhaust tips so it now looks like a racer. 8)

The usual place that they blow is through the flexi pipe on the end of the downpipe, before the cat.

Yes, but I think mine is ok there. The mid section is worst from cat to where I cut it now. I probably need to build a new exhaust next year.

One of the next couple of weekends I need to sort some rust spots. I have a unpleasant looking area in one of the sills and I fear it might be bigger than it looks. :?

Update! At the moment I am just enjoying by driving the car. Everything works well and it is just a joy to drive. But I will probably use it as little as possible during the winter.

No only the ends/tips. The ex system is nearly knackered, but I'll keep it until it blows too bad. Unfortunately the ex system is one of those parts that are pretty hard to find here so I'll probably make my own when the day arrives. Or I'll import from your side of the pond. 8)
