So I just planned to take the car for a spin. It's been sitting for a few weeks actually so it needed some driving. It is totally dead. So now I need to recharge the battery, but the odd thing is something must have drained the battery in the first place. :?

They will go flat after enough time has passed. Plenty of electrics to drain them like the alarm and clock.

More of a worry if it's only a few days rather than weeks.

Yes probably nothing, but it was so flat even the central locking failed.

Everything up and running again. I charged it up for a few hours and it started like a clock.

I'll bet it'll be just lack of use. I've had that before.

I try to make excuses to use my cars whenever I can to keep them in shape.

Batteries can be quite tough, often they still have life in them long after you'd think them dead. I took a battery off of a Fiat that had been standing for 6 months with no charge, it was so useless that it would hold a charge after having the engine run for 10 minutes - not even enough to power the interior light, but after 24 hours on a charger (overcharge I was told...) it came to life - I am using in my car - it's perfect

I did something similar with a battery that came from a Ford Escort that had sat unused in the car park at work for over 4 years. It took a solid 3 days of charging to get it back to life but I then used it on my previous Jag without any trouble at all.

Fantastic! 8)

This Saturday we had our first spring day. So I went out and popped the bonnet and put the battery to charge. Now it has been standing for 4 months covered in snow. As you may know this winter has been the worst here for about 200 years.
I woke up Sunday morning. Blizzard outside!!! I'm not joking. Snow everywhere. :? So the car was standing as it was before.
Monday, cold as hell, 5-8 below freezing. Tuesday the same.
Today, temp has jumped to +8C so when I just came home I decided to give it a go. 2secs on the starter and she is alive! :lol:
So we took a short spin to make sure it was well up to temp. And everything is working just as it should!

Wohoo!! :D

That is good, glad the car has survived.

Has the snow gone now? I wonder when Ullna Golfbana will be open, usually it was the first or second week in April.

No, we still have about 40cm of snow in our back yard, but the roads are free and dry.

I would say it's impossible to open Ullna on ordinary schedule?!
