Post by vito » Mon Jul 15, 2013 1:28 pm

A great day in the sunshine yesterday at East Kirkby WW2 aviation centre in Lincolnshire out near the coast near Skegness, a beautiful setting with a WW2 Lancaster NX611 'Just Jane' based here

http://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/

Both myself and Jon with two other 800's,

pleased to announce Jon won First place modern with his beautiful MK1 820 SI.

A great day out, pity we didn't have the club sail to fly and promote, maybe something to work on for future shows of which I do a few both in England and Scotland.

Well done Jon.

Those MG/75/SD1 jockies should be worried. They have it it their own way for to long.
Is that a real Flagship I see on the horizon

Nice one Jon

Not strictly true though, they make the effort to attend shows and promote their 'brand' as real enthusiasts.

There were 36 SD1's and about the same 75's at weekend, there were 4 800's, I see this at all the shows I attend, this is why there is usually no dedicated category for 800's, why we get lumped in with 600's and just plain 'modern', why we don't get taken seriously at car shows, just 'humoured' and stuck in the corner of a field away from the 'real' Rovers, of course they love the 2/3/4 800's to attend because they're quite happy to take the admission fee but we can't complain about the brand/model being taken seriously if we don't do ourselves by attending/promoting the brand at these Rover events sadly.

We're seen as a 'budget low end £300 save from the scrapyard' model until we change the view by attending and showing off our pride and joy.

Maybe this forum soon to be club can do something about it.
