Circuit des remparts Angoulême France (2011 -> 2019)
As I said, there is a meeting in Angoulême called Circuit international des Remparts.
I will present the meeting in this post and show you some parts of the 2011 to 2019's meeting
The meeting is on 3 days
The friday evening is the elegance contest
The Saturday is the tourist rally
The Sunday is the race and a car show in all the center of the city
I never saw the elegance contest because I was always working during this event, so I can't say nothing on this
I did the tourist rally three time (2011 / 2012 / 2013) I bought the Daimler for this event
I went to see the race and car show several time but not each year
There is at this event a lot of English, and a lot of English car, and I hope that after this post you will want to come !!!

The tourist rally.
At this event there is 200 cars on the official rally plus antother 200 cars on an semi-official rally plus a lot of cars who follow the rally...
The rally is 175 / 200 km long (110 / 125 miles) with 3 stop, one in the morning, one to lunch and one in the afternoon
The stop is in beatiful place and the lunch is made by gourmet chef because it is very important in France !!!
What is very pleasant is that a lot of Charentais (People who live in the department of Charente where Angoulême is) are on the roadside to "cheer" you. The Charente is a country of cars. Clearly there is a warm environment, and the Charente is very beautiful with hilly landscapes, winding roads, castles, vines and a lot of beautiful scenery.
Yes It looks like an advertising, but I am loving the Charente (For information it is not were I was born)
But in a car forum, the most important is the cars, isn't it ?
The cars who can participate to the rally need to have more than 30 years, but there is a lot of age exemption if the cars is "sports" and "prestige" cars...
So you have a lots of different cars but the best is to show it by pictures

Enlarging the image of that car and zooming in, it looks like a Vauxhall motif on the radiator and the two bonnet flutes back up this theory. I could be wrong though!

The Race
Races on the ramparts circuit are now historic vehicle races with several series from pre-war cars to GTs from the 60s. There are also interlude demonstrations.
The ramparts circuit is one of the rare French circuits in towns with Monaco and Pau. Its layout has not changed since the first race which took place in 1939. Its particularity is to pass at the foot of Angoulême cathedral and between the ramparts and the houses, so it does not forgive any fault.
The route is short since it is only 1279 m with 3 hairpins (including one where Le Mans-type prototypes or Formula 1s which had come in demonstration cannot turn without going it in twice) and a pseudo line straight downhill. If the circuit is not very speed, one of the slower in 1955 but the most efficient GTs reach now 180 km/h between houses and ramparts ...
The race has international fame (Many Englishmen, but also Belgians, Swiss, Germans, Spanish, Australians...), it must be said that during the first races, Jean-Pierre Wimille, Maurice Trintignant, Raymond Sommer, Juan Manuel Fangio, JF Gonzales, Jean Behra, Robert Manzon... faced each other here in the bests Ferrari, Bugatti, Maserati, Alfa-Romeo, Delahaye, Gordini...

they does not laugh during the races, evidenced by this wing. This happened to the chestnut tree pin with a mini Cooper S. It must be said that this poor mini which was in 2nd place and held the high dragee at the Austin Healey 3000, lost 3 places because of a latecomer who blocked it. Obviously to get back up, she took a little risk ... She will still finish in a nice 3rd place.

The Ferry is very smaller than a Jaguar D Type
I don't know what is the engine of that car but I thing that it is a small 4 cylinder with maximum of 1.5 l
