Re: BMC show 2012 ( Picture heavy)
the back of the victoria looks more like a 2000 than a dolomite, the rear lights are more 2000 ish the rear screen is bmc 1300 even has the angles on the edge of the boot below the screen, the hight of the boot at the back of the boot is slimmer than a dolomite just an observation the victoria may have been more likely based on a triumph 2000 instead.... regards ricky

You could well be right Rick - i got curious to know more about the origins of it so found this on ar-online.
It appears Michelotti redesigned the ADO16/BMC11/1300 to produce the Victoria and as he also designed the Dolomite so it's easy to see how the 2 cars ended up looking similar.
Again, Michelotti was responsible for the Triumph 2000/2500 range so could explain the rear lights too.
Shame it was never sold in this country, however reading the various stories behind the merger of Triumph with BMC etc, i suspect it would have impacted on the sales of the Triumph 13/1500 and Toledo/Dolomite ranges. Presumably BL management would have vetoed such a thing happening as they seemed to favour Triumph above the BMC products.

Could well be! I sort of got the impression from other things i read (some time back now so can't remember where) that triumph were favoured over Jaguar and Rover too. Perhaps they viewed Triumph as the companys "saviour"?

That's because the centre section is pure ADO16.
