He had a relatively minor falling out with someone here, and decided that this wasn't the place for him.

It was all quite un-dramatic, and a bit of a shame that he didn't stick around, but he seems happy enough on AS (I'm there too, more as a reader than a contributor). He seems a nice enough guy, and I'm sure he'd be welcome back here if he fancied having another go.

Shame, no-one would force me out of here over a "minor" misunderstanding.

I believe he had a minor misunderstanding with one or two people as well.

It all happened mainly late at night on one thread that i know of, there may be others but it seems (i don't know so only guessing from one or two comments i saw) that he may have been banned from the forum. All the posts were deleted so nobody apart from those online at the time is likely to know much about it.
Cheers,
Dave

Me neither. I think it's important to separate 'real' life from 'internet' life - online, it's far too easy to misread someone's intentions, or take offence to stuff you'd brush off in real life.

Anyway, not a comment on the rights/wrongs of various 'disappearances' - this forum is probably the most mild-mannered, easygoing and non-confrontational I've seen (I recognise that this takes effort behind the scenes by the admins, for which thanks)

I think they were both banned, not through choice...

Its too easy on the net to mouth off or be opinionated , sometimes you have to step back and say
`we`ll have to agree to disagree on that one `

Not to force your opinion down other peoples throats like what you say is law or gospel..
or even belittle people who have different views to your own.

Another thing is sometimes things are said in jest, which doesn't always come over right when written down.
the expression `its not what you say but the way you say it ` doesn't always translate well in forums like this.

It's funny - i was having a similar conversation with a friend the other day whose daughter had texted her from Abu Dhabi.

There should have been an extra full stop or two in the message and without them, the whole tone and meaning of the message was altered. This caused a family row between my friend, her ex-husband (who was in Itally visiting his family) and their daughter in Abu Dhabi.

My friend showed me the text and i read it aloud to her both ways it could have been interpeted - with the extra full stops "included" and also how it was written. If her face could have made a noise as the penny dropped it would have been deafening!

I suppose the moral of the tale is don't jump to conclusions when there's even the vaguest possibility that there could be more ways than one of interpeting the written word, depending on whether punctuation has been applied or not. Another thing that doesn't help is spelling and/or typing - my spelling is generally good but my typing is shute  but a mis-spelt word can also change the whole meaning of something!
I'm sure we've all done it at some point or other, i know i have (and felt silly after for getting it wrong! ) but on a forum such as this where emotions can run high at times we all need to be a bit restrained.

Let's face it, if we weren't passionate about our 800s we wouldn't be here in the first place so it goes without saying that passion could easily spill over into the most innocent of posts.
Cheers,
Dave

Trust me, it's nothing compared to the nonsense on the 75 and ZT forum - major fallings out, people flouncing to Facebook and indulging in name-calling about forum members - quite amazing.

Hmm, with the 75/ZT aimed at a "younger" market than the 800, it might be suggested some members of that forum need to grow up then?

I'd say that's a fair comment - but with nearly 2,600 active members there's more scope for disagreement. Also some paying subscribers felt they should have a say in what the forum owner did with the money, others said they couldn't give a toss so there was another argument.

Could be anything Steve but if there are nearly 2600 members as Pete says, there is more scope for disagreement/argument. Flouncing off to facebook to air grievances seems a bit silly though.
