Re: Rover 600 forum?
I quite like 600's too, had a petrol one and a diesel one before. Not too long before these are in dying numbers. Want a 620ti at some stage before they all die out!

Re: Rover 600 forum?
the 623 i have is ok doent drive anywhere near as nice as the 800 but then of course it was one down the ladder from the 800 so it shouldnt be as good.
The 623 is more reilable though than my 800 and is often called apon by me to do what the 800 should be doing. At the moment my header tank is blown again, new one coming so i can claim it under parts warranty. only got a brand new one in march.
The only thing the 600 has need was a rear brake caliper set, other than servicing of course.

Re: Rover 600 forum?
Personally I think that a separate forum (as an entire board) would be a good idea. Adding a 600 emphasis to this one I personally am not so sure. The beauty of this place is that it has such a nice tight remit and the terms of reference are so precise. Granted we have the "other cars" bits, but they are always secondary to the 800. If it's split to a 600/800 forum I think it might lose a bit of its focus.
A separate 600 forum however I think would work, and in time would grow as well as this place, and the HHR 400/45/ZS forum that Benny has mentioned (which is new and has grown well).

Re: Rover 600 forum?
I still think you should consider incorporating the 600 in a greater form than you have done Richard.
Perhaps we should be titled the the Rover 800 Enthusiasts Forum - Incorporating the 600? We do have a tight remit but how often do we stick to it? I also think having such a right remit may have a restricting affect on the longevity of the forum. We have had similar comments from the guys from the SD1 club.
There are fewer people making regular posts and people like Chris, Rich C and Brad are not around so much.
I just feel if we attempt to expand slightly within this forum board that it may benefit us in the long term.
I hope you don't mind me saying this, I am not looking to cause an issue but I thought it best to post the message publicly rather than by pm.

Re: Rover 600 forum?
Simon, I am basically in agreement with you. The number of 800s is decreasing all the time and unless we embrace other vehicles then we will ultimately wither and die (like some other clubs/fora). To that end, I have gone out on a limb abd purchased the domains http://www.rover600.info and http://www.rover600.org and these now direct to our front page.
I think that the majority view of those who've posted on this thread is positively disposed towards the 600 and to me it seems a logical thing to do. As noted above, a number of members have/had 600s as well as 800s and I would ask them to make a start by putting something up in the newly instituted Rover 600 section of "Your Cars". Then we can give the 600 a bit more prominence on the front pages

Re: Rover 600 forum?
Agree with Simon amd Richard on this question. The forum is becoming less active as 800 owners move on so adding a section for 600 owners seems a good idea.

a) 75% of an 800 or

Re: Rover 600 forum?
All noted and the feedback is gratefully received. My concern however, is that a separate 600 forum could be stillborn if it doesn't get off the ground quickly. This forum grew out of http://www.rover800.co.uk which started small but at that time MGR were still in business, the 800 had only been out of production for about 5 years and there were a hell of a lot more 800s on the road. We came into existence as 800.info when the owner of 800.co.uk lost interest and the forum ran into a lot of trouble with pornographic spam and poor hosting reliability. Now, a decade later, with 800s and 600s becoming increasingly rare, MGR a distant memory (and the current "guardians" of the brands doing little to rekindle that memory) a new Rover 600 forum might struggle to get up a head of steam (no K series jokes please!) but perhaps we can give it a good shove.Alex SBY wrote:Personally I think that a separate forum (as an entire board) would be a good idea. I would have expected someone to set up a 600 forum before now but there just doesn't seem to be the motivation out there. I will be inbterested to see what developes (if anything does). You never know, it may all turn out to be a huge flop!
Maybe the ultimate aim should be to become a FWD Rover forum - although the prospect of it being filled with Waynes and Darrens in "wicked" modified 1.4 ZRs fills me with dread, innit! I also don't want to be seen as encroaching on anyone else's turf and damaging other fora. The poor old 600 is out in the cold and I think it needs a bit of help.
That said, I need a bit of help from James (guru) to get the website sorted. If I've managed to get things right at GoDaddy, then 600.info and 600.org will soon be redirecting to the Rover 600 section of "Your Cars" on this forum but we will need to revamp the homepage etc.

Re: Rover 600 forum?
I think that what's been done so far (creating a 600 sub-forum) is a good idea. If that grows and develops then decide then how to handle it. I agree that catering for the cars is important as it fills a needed void.
I'm totally supportive of whatever changes are decided but the main thing is not to lose the excellence of things as they are now.
