Rover 600 forum?
I've had a bit of a look around via Google and can't find a forum for the Rover 600 (other than those on mg-rover.org which covers a very wide range of cars). Perhaps we should consider making this a combined 800/600 forum.

Re: Rover 600 forum?
There use to be a sort of 600 web page, but it had not been updated for a few years.
last time I checked it had gone.

Re: Rover 600 forum?
Hmm not personally a fan of the 600....
But I can't see anything wrong with having a section of the index page for Rover 600. Maybe an inital index with Rover 800 and Rover 600 options. But then why not also Rover 400/200/100/Metro/213-216 etc? All of them with a carbon copy of our existing index within. This site could then become a Rover Cars forum.
Would prefer to keep 800 bit as is...
Do we have enough 600 interest/ownership among existing members to give it a starting content foundation, or would it be a rather empty area until new 600 folk come along?

Re: Rover 600 forum?
I am a great fan of the 600 series and regard the car as the best looking Rover ever made (sorry gang ). I have owned five in total, one of them diesel and the derv one is the joint best car I have ever owned along with my Sterling. I'd certainly have no objections to a 600 forum or section on here. Parts are becoming scarce and I'd venture to say they are even rarer than 800's overall. I don't think there is anywhere near the expertise out there for 600's as we have on here and that is a great shame. If I had to name my favourite thing about the 600 it is the just way they travel. Smooth as you like. Even a 600 near the end of it's life moves better than a BMW or Merc. Truly the 600 series was for me Rovers finest hour.

Re: Rover 600 forum?
I wasn't a fan till I had to buy a diesel for economy reasons. I couldn't find a decent 825, so I ended up buying a 600 diesel and now I love it.
I guess it's not a bad idea to include them in the forum. You can swap the wheels afterall...

Re: Rover 600 forum?
This is exactly why a 400/45 forum was started, there wasn't one but there are owners and enthusiasts out there.
I think its definitely worth a go Richard, after all you already have the webspace/capacity on here to have one alongside the 800 section.

Re: Rover 600 forum?
There is already a 200/400 Club (covering the R8 and to a lesser extent the SD3, R3 and HHR), the M cars are also equally well catered for but the 600 doesn't appear to have anywhere to go and it's the sort of car that should appeal to many 800 drivers. I'll let the discussion run a while before we do anything.

Re: Rover 600 forum?
I'd say a much lesser extent. I am aware of one person turning up at a Meet after he'd swapped his R8 for a 45 and getting short shrift from formerly friendly people. The HH-R was on sale for 10 years in various guises and as ZS180 was very popular indeed.
I do hope you get this idea off the ground, although I've never owned a 600 (came very close once!) they are a very good example of an elegant and understated saloon of the 90s.

Re: Rover 600 forum?
They haven't dated as fast as the 800. Incidentally there are a lot more 600s than 800s around here.

Re: Rover 600 forum?
The 600 has a good following on Rovertech, mainly the ti and it's a very well liked car. Ditto on the "lots more 600's around than 800's" sentiment. Most of the 600's I see are driven by black people. My nephew had a 623 GSi and then a 620ti.

Re: Rover 600 forum?
Good Idea,
I've got a 620i, had it for quite a few years, and never let me down.
Its done over 163,000 and just keeps going.
Although it does'nt get the attention my 800 enjoys.
I changed the interior to leather with folding rear seat back from a scrapper.
Over the yeards its had tyres, exhausts, pads, brake pipes, cam belts and a cv joint.
There are a couple of oil leaks that need sorting.
For the service its given though, it does'nt owe me a penny.
Great little car.

Re: Rover 600 forum?
I think it would be a good idea Richard, the 600 is a good car and is the smaller brother/sister of the 800.
Some new people on the site might revive it, as I feel that some of the old stalwarts seem much less active now or have moved on.
However......
I still think that the 800 section is lost in the "Your Cars" area - especially as this is the Rover 800 Enthusiasts Forum.
If we become the 600 & 800 Enthusiasts Forum I would prefer to see 2 separate sections, one for 800's and one for 600's, "Yours Cars" area could remain (perhaps re-named) to cover everything else.
