One of my favourites, too.

I saw him in a farcewith Dennis Waterman a few years ago and he stole the show. It overran and no one minded.

There was an annual tradition in Sweden to show "The plank" when I was a kid. Can't remember why or when but it was the funniest thing I'd seen on TV.

I must admit to being the biggest fan of 60's British cinema, in particular The Plank (1967). This was remade in 1979 but not as sharp as the 'original' which in itself was a remake of a sketch from 1963. Still with me?

Filmed entirely on location in Barnes, London, here are some screen grabs from the 1967 film and my shots taken one evening last Summer.

Where Eric and Tommy Cooper realise the Plank has disappeared from the roof of their car:

I saw Sykes and Jimmy Edwards live on stage at Leeds Grand Theater in Big Bad Mouse over 40 years ago. A super evening, sides aching from laughter. A true genius.
