Re: Following on from the 1.6L Montego Saloon Thread....
Sills look pretty good so far Richard, although there is one hole at the rear end on the passenger side where the arch panel overlaps. and some (hopefully)minor surface grot in the same place on the drivers side rear end.
Front wings need rubbing back and treating but so far don't look rotten, rear hatch has usual but minor bubbling along the bottom edge of the screen.
Surprisingly the scuttle trim panel is in fairly good condition, but will need to come off for a rub down and repaint.
First glance the doors look ok, but I have not spent any real time on it as I only got back late last evening.
Today was a "rest day" having done over a 1000 miles over the weekend in the defender.
Tomorrow (if I'm allowed) I will unload the trailer and give it a good look over.

I've always liked the Montego estate ever since my Dad had one when I was a child. From memory that was a C reg as well, VDP with the extra seats in the boot. My brothers and I used to argue over who got to ride in the boot facing backwards!

Re: Following on from the 1.6L Montego Saloon Thread....
Not much has happened until this week due to sourcing correct parts etc.
Still quite a bit to do but this should give a wee taster of the progress so far.
Thanks to a good friend, with my prep and his patience we have a newly recovered headliner biscuit.
Replacement wing fitted due to original having added none factory ventilation!

New:
Front bumper has been changed out for correct fitment item for the year of the car:(yet to fully bolt up due to wing fitment needing "fettling"

Re: Following on from the 1.6L Montego Saloon Thread....
Thanks to Ricky we now have solid sill ends and lower rear arch's.
It also has had them "orrible" locking nuts removed and the wheels swopped over, as well as a full front to back H/brake cable set fitted.
Just need to replace a wheel stud or two and the fuel ECU as it's playing up.
Then it should be ready for test.
Sill repairs to the estate are almost complete.
Both sides needed quite a bit of work, but I guess that's what you get with no wax oil etc and a life on the south coast.
Plan is to clean up the full length of each sill and paint in a zinc rich primer then grey stone chip. all Masked off neatly.
it will then be the option of any prospective new owner to either paint as needed or go the whole hog and do the entire car to a high standard.
