You've worked really hard on this Richard and I bet shes pleased as punch with her little Rover.

I hope she goes on to stick with British cars as she grows older, as we need young people to maintain an interest in BL/Austin Rover.
Does she like 800's?

She does indeed, but she likes my MGC GT more.

Getting the MG back up to scratch is the next project.

Superb work and effort gone into bringing the metro up to standard for you girl Richard you are truly a man of many talents which is clear from the photos. Lovely looking car and one that should now last a lot longer.

As always, I'm never entirely happy - there are a couple of roughly-done welding patches up front which will need re-doing. But overall, I'm pleased with how it turned out. The low mileage helps, just 24,000 now.

I can't believe how long it's been since the last update on this. Mainly, I guess, because there's been very little go wrong - in fact, nothing. This cracking little car passes MOTs first time and eats up the miles.

I have fitted some red seat belts from an MG Metro and some red seat covers (at the owner's request). Other than tnat, just routine servicing.

It's brilliant :)

The 8V K series is a real gem of an engine, and unlike the 1.6 and 1.8 is pretty robust. It's quite sporty to drive, too

My brother had a 1.4 GTa years back that he enjoyed a lot.

It developed an odd squeak on the front end which he never cured though.

He wanted a GTi but everyone we looked at back then was very rusty.

I think all k series get a bad press for no reason.. other than rover trying to save money with cheap parts... when the good gaskets are fitted properly, issue solved... regards ricky
