I quite like the changes. Much nicer to look at than the previous facelift I must say.

As a suggestion, how about a "shoutbox" as I think they are called on the index page. That would keep some of the hellos and how-are-yous out of the more focused threads.

We had something similar on .co.uk way back when.

It was relatively popular.

Hi James,

Not wishing to do down the Sterling work you do here (see what I did there), massively prefer the way it was before the last changes.

This style looks kind of bulky and oversized on my PC. Previous versions were much cleaner.

If changes must be made, perhaps at least keep previous layouts/styles available as a personal choice for those that want them?

Thanks
Mark

Grrruummmmppphhh!!!! There's always one!

Joking aside Mark, i use a desktop PC as well and find this new page style not only loads quicker but is easier to use in general and nowhere near as bulky.
What browser do you use, do you maximise the window for the "full screen" view and have you checked your monitor settings in the PC?
Depending which version of Windows you have the general method is Settings, Control Panel,, Devices, Displays/Monitors and then check the resolution matches the screen.
On the older monitors with the CRT display, they were invariably a 4:3 format, most monitors these days are 16:9 format and if you've upgraded your monitor without telling the PC that might be the cause or simply that your monitor is in a very high (or low) resolution mode.

Also in your browser you may have clicked the zoom+ button to look at a photo or something and forgotten to reset it back to normal afterwards before the layout was changed. This means the browser might still be in zoom mode for rover800.info pages. I know on Firefox CTRL and 0 (zero) together rest the zoom level, CTRL and - give zoom out/- and CTRL and + gives zoom in/+ and i think that's a fairly universal keyboard shortcut for other browsers too. Might be worth doing a CTRL and 0 together to see if that improves matters for you?

It seems odd that you're the first (and so far only) comment to say the new layout is too bulky, that's why i've asked the questions above - mainly because i've been there, done that, had the t-shirt and so on!
Cheers,
Dave

My bookmark lands at the new posts page. That way I don't have to click trhough to see them. I too like the new design but as Chris says, ID's on the left and it's perfect.

I've looked into this and at the moment can't find a stable plugin that works with the forum software. I'll keep an eye out and it one is released we can always test it.

Love a bit of wordplay

In a word not really. Each style installed has to be compatible with the version of the forum software installed and has to be manually updated each time there's an upgrade. Obviously keeping up-to-date is very important as it keeps the forum secure and helps to prevent us from been attacked. I may leave prosilver on as this is a default style and comes with all updates to the software however as for others it's not really practical. The reason I've had to change the style both times previously is because the previous ones were not being updated any longer.

Found them Dave, thanks but as you and Dolly both posted prefer the single button on the right layout, colour scheme itself is nice and fresh.

Hi all, just one thing really that has been on for quite some time now, ever since the forum was brought back online after some downtime many months ago, the pages are riddled with "[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning" messages all over the pages layout, whether on the homepage or any post page, being a bit tech-knowledgeable I'd say the hosting server has had the PHP Debug feature activated, causing these messages to pop up any time some PHP code returns a warning.
Any chance it could be fixed?

I seem to recall James saying something about this on another thread, just after that downtime incident. The idea was he would remove the PHP Debug after a couple of months if memory serves but i guess it's just slipped his mind.
Cheers,
Dave
