Posting Pictures
Posting Pictures
Following on from the photobucket changes which have rendered it useless to most I've integrated a new method of posting pictures using postimage.org to store them. Whenever you create or reply to a post you will see an 'Add image to post' option at the bottom like this:
If you select this you can then easily upload images which are then linked to the post but stored on the photoimage servers. If you could give it a go and reply to this thread with any feedback it would be much appreciated.
This may not be the final solution but it's one that's worth testing.

Re: Posting Pictures
Thanks for your work on this James, very much appreciated certainly by me and i would think any others who post on here too!
A couple of questions just to satisfy the "Inner moron" in me that barely understands image hosting, clouds and similar :
1) Do we need to set up individual accounts on postimage.org?
2) If we use the "Upload image" option direct to the forum, will that compromise the forums account space with postimage?
3) Even if we don't need to set up individual accounts on postimage, is there any reason why we couldn't/shouldn't/wouldn't be able to?
4) Like many others i know on here, i often cross-post pictures to other fora - if i was to set up an individual account on postimage would i still be able to do that or is it restricted to this forum only?
Sorry for so many questions, i've tried to keep them to what i and probably others may want to ask and the "basics" - getting them in early on in what may end up as a long thread means you can dispense with the basics fairly quickly!
Thanks again!

Test from me too.
What size did you set your photo at Simon? Should we have a default for continuity?

Re: Posting Pictures
Glad to see it's working OK!
2)No, there's no set limit that I'm aware of
3) As far as I know there's no reason not to set up your own account however the auto-inserting of the image link would probably not work then.
4) If you want to cross post you can upload the image here and then just copy and paste the URL it generates. Images uploaded via rover800.info are not then restricted to just this site.
1) No individual accounts are needed to postscoobyh123 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2017 10:36 amThanks for your work on this James, very much appreciated certainly by me and i would think any others who post on here too!

Re: Posting Pictures
Thanks James - nowt to worry about then!
As an aside, i had a lovely email from Photobucket this morning saying some features would be disabled - lo and behold i find my signature pic is replaced with a PB block telling me to sign up for the "Plus500" service!
Already started Postimage (got an account anyway!) so i sorted that one first. No doubt there will be amny others as time goes on, PB aren't doing themselves any favours here!

Re: Posting Pictures
Indeed, it's bad enough what they've done anyway but making the change with so little / no notice is really going to annoy people.

Re: Posting Pictures
Wasn't one of their original "selling points" that they gave FREE 3rd Party hosting? For "domestic" users at least - i seem to recall something i spotted once about business users having to pay but that's not unusual.
For the average "man in the street" though, $400/£320 a year is a lot of money to find just to put a few pictures on a forum or three! By the way, that's a rough guesstimate of the conversion to GBP and will obviously change daily due to currency fluctuations - i went on $1.20 to £1 as a ball-park figure.
