FAO 820 Owners - silicone coolant hoses group buy!

Post by Vard66 » Sat Dec 12, 2009 6:22 pm

Hey guys.

MarkCoupé on RT, one of the partners at Silverstorm Auto Improvements, has put up a post on RT asking if anyone who owned a T16 based 800 would be interested in a set of silicon coolant hoses.

In order to make the sets up, he has said he needs a minimum of five orders.

I'm filling one of those slots, mainly for longevity reasons - silicon should allay any worries of hoses splitting, but obviously, that leaves a minimum of four other "I do"'s in order to generate the hoses themselves.

I've offered Mark my hoses to model them on, so that's not a worry folks.

Mark has also asked about 800/Ti boost hoses, and again I've offered Mark mine, but I'm dubious about getting 5 people wanting silicone boost hoses for stock 800s. I suspected I might find a few on here who were interested for the longevity properties for either N/Asp or turbocharged T16 800s.

Anyone interested?

Don't forget that the hose from water pump to radiator is different between aircon and non aircon models. The aircon one is longer, if memory serves right, and so it may be best to model it on that and then cut down for the non-a/c models.

Good point Richard.

Not a problem though, as my Vit is; (and therefore the model pipes will be from), an A/C Vit.

Ok, clarifying this;

1. Vard
2. Mike C
3. Tony
4. Stig (mebbe?)
5.

Stig, I've been talking to Mark about this, and as the coolant hoses will require payment in full (though not a full set to be bought, I suppose),
whenever we get five people, is when this bulk buy will go ahead, so whenever you feel flush enough to be counted in, just let me know, dude.

Richard, did you take those photos of the pipes in your bay, perchance? I'm struggling to name them all still, and want to get them off to Mark fairly soonish, so he can get them all priced up.

*Edit*

Scratch that, Richard.

Rave to the rescue.

*Edit*

Scratch THAT. Rave doesn't have turbo feed or drain in the diagram, so anyone who could provide me with a photograph of either of those, that'd be grande.

Chris: From the older WSM - rotated 90 degrees for a better fit. These are better than my crappy photos.

That's fantastic Richard, thanks.

Apparently my copy of RAVE is missing some of the files for the 800, because I had the N/Asp diagram, but not the Turbocharged one.

Looking at it, it seems I only have the second edition of the 800 WSM.

How irksome.

These are for the pre-96 820 but I can't imagine that the actual hoses are different.

I believe it's normal silicone choice, Shaun - i.e: black/red/blue.

I'll ask Mark and reply in here once I've spoken to him later on.

Robert,

I'll be sending all my coolant hoses to Mark for him to recreate.

Any and all will be available.
