What would you buy?
How are we all? Keeping well I hope?
I have an itch for a new car, to me anyway. I'm finding the 406 I have just too dull even though it was only bought as a backup and I absolutely hate diesels.
I love my V70R very much, I see it somehow in a similar light to my old stripped out fastback. I just click with it.
That said I can't make my mind up what I want next. Things were so much simpler when the only choices were the shape or colour of an 827.
I'm looking for another estate, I was thinking of getting something that's 4WD but that isn't critical.
It must be manual, of course.
It must be quick. 0-60 in no more than 7 seconds.
It must be petrol for reasons stated above.
It must have decent load carrying ability. Not a fan of these lifestyle estates. I want things to actually fit in it.
So assuming you had around £5K to spend (I would go higher if something really took my eye but I'm setting this as a guide).

X-types are tiny and cramped inside, though - as are S-types.
Allegro Estate with T-series turbo conversion - job done Personally, though, I would find it hard to look past an MGZT-T (190bhp KV6). That's not being "Rovercentric" and jingoistic, it's just that I can't think of any other attractive, quick estates that would appeal to me.

Agreed I had one of these for 5 years and did 80,000 miles with only servicing costs to pay for. effortless driving and after many miles getting out fresh as a daisy. good load space as I used mine for my work to carry tools, ladders etc.BennyVitesse wrote:Saab 9-5 Estate with the 2.3 turbo engine.

Hi Chris, glad you are well.
Subaru Legacy Outback. The turbo with the 3 litre engine is pretty quick with a huge load carrying capacity and 4WD as standard. That should measure up nicely.

Have to go with Richard on the MGZT-T. You should get a really nice one for that sort of money.
Course you could have a nice fastback

Can't see going back if I'm honest. Though I do miss the car and trailer together.Simon Hubbard wrote:A silver 827 fastback.

Not really looking for anything that bulky if I'm honest. Plus being a short arse pick up trucks are awkward for me to put anything in the back. I once looked at a Range Rover and found the same thing.
Sy had one of those? Not for me I'm afraid. Not a pretty car IMO.BlueRover wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKFF2AVQPXs

Not a huge fan mate if I'm honest.dollysprint wrote:A Jaguar X type 3.0v6 estate fits most of that Chris.

I don't dislike ZT-T's. But the 190 is too slow and the 260 is too rare for me.Richard Moss wrote:X-types are tiny and cramped inside, though - as are S-types.

Not seen much cheap enough that fits the bill unfortunately.Simon Hubbard wrote:Mercedes estate?
Don't like the rear ends mate. The rear glass just stinks of being stuck there instead of being designed that way.BennyVitesse wrote:Saab 9-5 Estate with the 2.3 turbo engine.
I've been looking at them and they're on a short list. Although I prefer the regular Legacy personally.Dajazar wrote:Hi Chris, glad you are well.

I'm surprised we've not had more German recommendations.
The biggest shock for me is I've actually been looking at Vectras!
The VXR estate is in budget. I'm actually thinking of going to look at one in town.

Find a good Montego 2.0 Estate.
Then drop a T16 in it.
