Rover 800 fastback MK2 model
I have been looking for years for any kind of model or toy of the 800 fastback 5 door Mk2, never been able to find one, Mk1's, saloons, Police and SD1's is all I ever find.
Does anyone know of one ever produced or even got one?

Re: Rover 800 fastback MK2 model
I don't think scale models of the Mk2 in any form have been produced. I remember as a kid making a 1:43 scale model of a gold Mk1 Sterling saloon (obviously had some psychological impact! ) but despite regularly trawling ebay for such a thing, the only models i've found are Mk1s and SD1s, P6s and i think even a few P4s and 5s but sadly nothing from the early 1990s onwards.
If you ever find any Mk2 models, in my case preferably a saloon or coupe, i'd love to know.

The rer lights are too long as well but i have to admit, it's a nice looking model - shame it's the wrong colour though!

The steering wheel is on the wrong side and not sure which wheels they are meant to be, it was for sale at £90 ! and sold.
I like it, you could always repaint it the colour of your real one, if a fastback comes up I would want it, not at £90 though.

Re: Rover 800 fastback MK2 model
Didn't notice it was foreign hand drive until you mentioned it Jim! That said i was looking more at the outside than the inside.
That seems a hell of a price, there were times when you could buy a real one for less! Maybe in the fullness of time one of the "established classic model" makers will produce something, until then i suppose we're stuck with the motley selection from Matchbox, Corgi and this one i've not seen before, Kims Classics. Out of all of them this latest offering seems to be one of the nicest, if not necessarily the most accurate but then the accuracy of the others leaves a lot to be desired in most cases. That said, you tend to pay a lot more for accuracy so it's swings and roundabouts i suppose.
As for those wheels Jim, i suspect they were something the foreigners got and we didn't. Or something. Maybe they're "generic" wheels that maker uses in the same way as Matchbox and Corgi tend to use the same basic wheel on most of its models.

Re: Rover 800 fastback MK2 model
Is it worth me buying a decent 3D printer and making them ? I suppose once the printer is bought then I could create any Rover/MG model ever made.
