827 STAINLESS exhaust manifolds - ONE LEFT!
Via Dave (Scooby) well found!
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150393548979? ... EBIDX%3AIT
Now reduced in price to £270 including shipping.
If more than 2 people want a set we could do a bulk buy and save on the (IMHO) ludicrous postage fee.
These are really nicely made bits of kit and they replace the downpipe too. No more rotten downpipes that catch on speedbumps!

Re: 827 STAINLESS exhaust manifolds.
Something like that would have been a god send for my Mk1, although I'd have had to have plugged the hole for the lambda sensor.

I'm in, subject to pre and/or post xmas funds - may have to wait a moth or two into the new year to be honest. Good idea posting it up here Dusan for a group saving!

Re: 827 STAINLESS exhaust manifolds.
They are nice and well made, I think they go on ok too, but the primaries are 1.25" so not a massive gain, hence why I don't have a set

Re: 827 STAINLESS exhaust manifolds.
Depends where you want the gain to be m8y - i'm fairly sure the OBX jobby will give a small to reasonable gain across the range. Given what i'm pretty sure you're looking for, you'd probably need more at the top end?
For most of us that just want a little more oomph but more importantly a stainless front pipe, it's pretty much ideal. I know you can buy pattern front pipes for about £40 but they will need renewing again in a few years, a stainlesss one will last forever in theory.

Re: 827 STAINLESS exhaust manifolds.
i reckon compared to the crudeish one on the standard car, they would make good gains and with a bigger bore system i reckon they be good, the legend guys seem to rate them for power, but like jago says, could be bigger.
what are the sizes of the standard primaries then jago.

Re: 827 STAINLESS exhaust manifolds.
You're right Matt but as i'm pretty sure Jago will confirm, you'll lose a lot of economy by fitting a large bore system on the standard engine. I had a 2 1/2" stainless system on my coupé for a while - sounded great (except at 55-60mph where it boomed horribly) but economy was way down and so was torque and overall power. Swapped it for a completely standard system and got the power and economy back (decatted with a genuine Rover decat box) and lost the resonance at 55-60mph.
On my Sterling where i have an across-axle splitter pipe to split into twin tail boxes, i had to fit a restrictor in each back box for the same reason. If i had gone for a set of wilder cams, some work on the heads and so on, it would have been perefct as it was without the restrictors but it needed them to restore the low end torque and the economy. To be honest i didn't notice any effect on top end power with or without the restrictors.

Re: 827 STAINLESS exhaust manifolds.
the stock manifold doesn't do primaries really, they are actually crude for Honda/rover of the same era..
the OBX ones are a good improvement over oem, however I want more,
To get good low end with the exhaust being over size you need to do other things, like up the compression, tune the impedance of the exhaust system so that the valve doesn't see a 2.5" pipe of static gas etc..

I bet they're fun to fit. I always looked at them in the past but never did anything about it.

Re: 827 STAINLESS exhaust manifolds.
I expect some of us will find out Chris. I know i had a lot of grief fitting a standard front pipe on my coupé, had to replace all 6 manifold flange to downpipe studs and nuts.CHR15E wrote:I bet they're fun to fit. I always looked at them in the past but never did anything about it.
I used stainless steel studs and nuts copiously lubricated with copper grease to make life easier next time. I would post the ebay links but they'renot currently listed as they're unusual sizes. Here's the descriptions and listing numbers i bought though :
Honda Exhaust Manifold Studs,M10x 39mm.Pack of 10 ( 250763216717 )
A2 Stainless Steel Fine & Extra Fine Pitch Thread Hexagon Full Nuts ( 161062508216 )
Might help another 827 owner out a bit.

Re: 827 STAINLESS exhaust manifolds.
Swapping the rear manifold will be the worst job IMO.
If even possible by most DIYers?

Re: 827 STAINLESS exhaust manifolds.
Reckon you're right Chris although i can't see removing the EGR valve being a walk in the park either. The other PITA will be extending the Lambda sensor wiring too although both those jobs are relatively minor compared to actually getting the old manifolds off.

Re: 827 STAINLESS exhaust manifolds.
have a look on the acura legend website guys, they have done them on there, and lengthened the lambda wires, are lambda sensors on all rover 800s then.
