Rover vitesse wanted
I don't want to force anyone to sell but is there anyone out there who might consider selling a good condition 827 mk 1 vitesse.
I'm being fussy but it would like a standard car in manual with the swept back 5 spoke dogleg alloys
Colour is unimportant cos I can't push it that much

colour is unimportant.... ???
Its usually the first thing I consider when hunting down cars , after the exact model is decided....
Wheels can easily be changed, colour not so easily/cheaply

for those who know... aren`t all Vitesses manual anyway ?

Yes your correct I sold a green vitesse some time ago with lattice alloys.I was going to keep it if I found the dog leg alloys to go on it,but gave up looking. I want to recreate my youth,to be exact I'd like a silver one in manual with dog legs just like one I had when I was seventeen.Ive just missed out by a few days on two projects on the forum.Completly gutted.But it doesn't matter for a while now as I'm working on a series 1 sd1 v8 for now.

Dean - the "original" Vitesses were only ever available as fastback 827 models and most were auto from the factory. If memory serves correctly, the OPs Vitesse was a green fastback that had been converted to manual and had the lattice or if you prefer, cross-spoke alloys - either name applies.
The manual Vitesses came about when the Mk2 came along and with it, the 2.0 turbo engine as the main powerplant for the Vitesse. This diverted away from the more "traditional" Austin-Rover/BL/Rover/Triumph approach of the biggest capacity with most cylinders engine in a range being the Vitesse model.
Go back to the Triumph Vitesse of the 1960s - essentially a Triumph Herald with a 6 cylinder engine, initially of 1600cc displacement and latterly (most commonly known) of 2000cc capacity, the engine shared with the Triumph GT6 (Spitfire on steroids basically) and the Triumph 2000 saloon/estate range. A few people have shoe-horned the 2500 lump into the Herald/Vitesse and GT6 and one person i recently read about who dropped a Stag V8 into a Herald which apparently bolted straight in!
Moving onto the late 70s, there wasn't a Vitesse in the BL line up so the SD1 was given an injection system and a few more horses, a bodykit, suspension tweaks and a Vitesse badge. This was the only Vitesse until about 86/87 when the 213/216 range got the EFi S series (or was it R, can't remember just now) 1600cc lump and the 216 Vitesse was born. By this time the SD1 was gone and the 827 (then newly launched to replace the original 825 with the Honda 2.5L lump) took on the mantle of the Vitesse model with a slightly different gearbox, lowered/uprated suspension and thicker (but not much back then!) anti roll bars. The auto version of the Vitesse was also produced which i think was a first (there was an auto SD1 Vitesse for a short while then the VDP gained fuel injection and an auto box and the auto Vitesse SD1 was dropped) for a "long term" model.
That's about as much as i know about them but gives you an idea. Being something of a "traditionalist" in terms of engine size etc, to me the only true 800 Vitesse will ever be the manual 827 version. However, if you view the Vitesse as being the fastest/sportiest of the range then the 200bhp 2.0 turbo should be the Vitesse. All depends which side of the fence you sit or whether you get splinters in your Khyber.............

Dave, Mrpcpc has an off the production line manual Mk1 Vitesse in British racing green with only 66k on the clock.
Ive seen it, and it bloody lovely. he fitted the standard cruise control to it too
I'm trying to get him to sell it to me let alone anybody else.
It must be the rarest 827 version on the planet.

Funny you should mention it Paul but i've seen it too and as you well know, cruise wasn't an option on the Vitesse - Rover management at the time deeming it the "sports" version which didn't need such luxury items as cruise control.

Hello again I'm back looking to update my request for an 827 vitesse mk1. I've just sold my sd1 I was working on and would like to try and get hold of my favourite rover again before my money gets used for something else.
So I'm on hands and knees pleading now.The money is waiting and maybe I will pay over the odds for the perfect dream machine

Funny enough, I nearly bought a mk2 Vitesse 2.0 turbo coupe just last week,
I pulled at the last when the bidding topped 900
I didn't have time to go and view it but it looked great in the photos
but pictures don't always tell the full truth.

It gives me great pleasure to say that today I took delivery of a superb 827 vitesse in the exact spec I was after.
Just read my last posts and that's exactly what Ive got at last.
It's in white with only minor imperfections to fix and no damage
