2 x 800s for sale by TDHfastback
Hi everyone
I am in the process of down sizing the fleet and am looking at selling these two:-
Gold Rover 820Si saloon. 1987
Rather than me wittering on you can read all about it at the link below
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12474
Last year I spent £600 gave and gave it to a chap who works on my 800s who went over the whole car, getting rid of every single bit of rust, dint or mark.
The leading edges of the rear wheel arches have no corrosion and look like new.(he even replicated the circular pressing marks under the paint). Milage is approx 22500 last time I checked and MOT till August
This for me was a no expense spared show winner and the price reflects this. I want this car to go to a true enthusiast who will cherish it as I have done, as it is believed to be the earliest 820Si in existence. Hence the price
£2999.
The second one is my everyday run around:-
Grey Rover 820SE fastback 1989
and can be read about here
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6245&start=60
The car now has 68000 miles on the clock, has just had a full service and has just passed its MOT 2 weeks ago
This has been a fantastically reliable car in the last 6 years of ownership.
The fuel filler neck is still sound and it starts first time. There is no dash lift.
Also some of you old stalwarts on here may remember back in the winter or 2012 i had a bit of a ding which can be seen here
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8794
It was professionally restored with Brad and Dollysprints help and can be seen alongside the gold one on the previous thread.
There is some surface rust around the wing mounted indicators and wheel arches but nothing serious and a couple of marks on the windscreen which don't effect the MOT.
The headlining is sagging.
In the recent heavy rain over the last week,I've noticed a drop of water inside at the top of the A post which seems to be coming from the front windscreen seal. I have some screen sealant and will be sorting that out the next dry day I get off work.
I have a couple of fastcheck systems for the single point injected Se which will come with the sale.
It can continue to be an everyday run around or it would be nice to see it brought up to the standard of the Si by someone who has the time
Price £750
Cars are in East Hertfordshire/Essex border 30 miles north of London
For those of you who have seen my cars at various shows you will know how I look after them and what they look like.
I don't want to go down the E-bay route due to all the trouble that entails (esp with the gold car) and would much prefer them to go to the enthusiasts on this forum
Its a tough decision but just the case of too much stuff and not enough time/space.
I will be keeping my V plated Sterling (my favourite) and the Police car (pure nostalgia) as I still want to attend shows and have learnt my lesson about being without an 800. You always come back to them.
If anyone has any questions please PM me
Thank you
Kate

Where are you located Kate? So people can arrange to look at the cars.

They are both lovely cars Kate, and anyone should be proud to own either. I have the same kind of problem as you - too many cars and not enough space/time.
I hope that we can find good homes for both
I really wish I could find a way to justify buying the Fastback

I'd love the gold one but firstly couldn't drive it, secondly haven't got the space/storage and thirdly couldn't do it justice. I'm one of the lucky few that has seen it in the metal and it's a gorgeous car - whoever buys it won't be disappointed!
It's a bit "end of an era" Kate, are you sure you want to sell them?

Not an end of an Era Dave, I will still have two and it gives me the time and resources to spend on them.
There will always be an 800 in my stable

The cars you're keeping are pretty special - a very late KV6 and a very original police car (special for obvious reasons). That said, the mk1s are rather lovely, too

Se sold the day it went on e-bay for what I asked for it.
Plenty of interest in the Si. So if you want it,speak now or regret it later. Its probably the best 800 out there.
Its up on Car and Classic at the moment.

Perhaps £5999 would be more realistic in light of recent ebay sales?

Re: 2 x 800s for sale by TDHfastback
Thanks guys.
I've had some silly offers .....
Would I take £1500? Of course sir thats why I advertised it at £2995 !!!!!
I do wonder sometimes.
In my opinion this car is worth every penny, its that good. With the advent of summer and the Se gone its given me a bit of breathing space with the storage. So no mad rush to sell it at the moment.

Having seen this car in the flesh and knowing it's "closest living relative" (the red 820Si saloon parked next to it at Peterborough a few months ago) is on an agreed value policy insured for £10k and now you have a bit of breathing space in terms of storage, maybe you should put the price up to a more realistic level? Sounds daft but it may even sell quicker - people might look at it now and think it's too cheap for the condition, what's wrong with it? Humans are funny animals after all!

Haha, thanks Dave.
I'll have to say that on any more e-mails, that come through.
One chap said he had sold a G reg fastback last year for £1150 and baulked at the price of paying what i was asking, saying it was unreasonable.
So hear we go folks have you sold anything really cheap recently?
Then demand a better product for less money?????? Why hadn't I thought of that?
