Yes they did. This one had the recaros removed by previous owner. I actually was the chap who bought them off him!

The 17" wheels that were on this car were painted black (badly) and all slightly bent. I sold them ages ago.

TBH I think you did well to keep it alive for as long as you did. I told Mike a long time ago it wanted scrapping. :D

The thing is the rusty bits are not actually that bad!

I could have easily fixed them and sledgehammer'd the nearside lower wishbones straight easily enough. (The car has clearly been crashed sideways into a kerb as both wheels on the left hand side have ~1 degree of positive camber)

I tried my best to keep this old girl on the road. The only thing that was stopping me was finding a new or good second hand brake servo!

The boroscope findings were today confirmed when Dusan decapitated the beast. The wings are good though as is the front bumper and many other parts. :D

I might need a boot (fastback) rubber seal ,
Mine had a slight leak from it , :?
so ive sealed it in place with silicone , but haven't tested it against the hose yet or rain

I'll grab a photo for you when I'm next up there pulling bits off.

It's perfectly serviceable but it's starting to fail where the strings attach and on one side of the hinge.

The boot seal on this one if FUBAR I'm afraid mate, Scooby Dave did manage to source a seal for a saloon from another make of car. He might know where to source one suitable for a Fastback.

I thought the seal was FUBAR but wasn't sure so didn't say anything. However i do know of a new, genuine fastback boot seal that might be had at a bargain price. Dick (Caxton820coupe) bought one from Rimmers recently in the hope it would fit his Coupé but the profiles are totally different so as far as i know Dean, he still has it. Might be worth a PM to ask :

http://rover800.info/forum/memberlist.p ... ile&u=4242

Failing that i matched mine to a Cortina profile (and pointed Dick in the right direction for his Coupé boot seal) which is near identical to the OE seal except for the skirt that hangs down to hold the boot trim in place - allegedly! Measure how much you need before even thinking of buying any, it's bigger than you think! Took just under 4m on each of mine :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-Cortina- ... 2749.l2649

This is all the different seals they do :

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/m.html?_odkw ... l&_sacat=0

Don't forget when you measure the seal lips, "bubble section" etc that the bubble bit will be squashed and/or shrunk over time so go for the next nearest size up from what you have. It will squash down anyway and give you a better seal. You'll also need to re-adjust how the tailgate shuts afterwards as well. :D
Cheers,
Dave
