I guess that make me some kind of genius, hero or heroic genius :D

I'm pretty sure that all mk1 wings are the same. How bad are your existing ones? New ones (or even good used) are going to be like rocking horse poo

What's the problem with the existing wings Tracy? I know usually they go down the bottom and round the arches, the biggest difference between Mk1 and 2 wings is the indicator hole as far as i know. I've heard that people have used Mk2 wings to repair the bottom half/arch areas on Mk1s, if so i might be able to help with at least one wing that could be used to repair the Mk1 wing. Might have a second (other side) but not sure.

I'll check what i've got (hopefully tomorrow but got the lurgy at the moment so can't guarantee how soon) and let you know.

Good news on the clutch anyway! :D
Cheers,
Dave

I seem to recall Brad saying that Maestro/Montego arches have similar profiles and can be used. Also a left rear 800 arch has the same profile as a right front (and vice versa) so repair panels can be cut from good, but dead, 800s rears

Just had a quick look while retrieving the hedgehogs plate Tracy - i have two wings but they're both right hand Mk2, one is in pretty good shape in terms of rust (none obvious from a quick glance) but i know the paint isn't great (Nightfire Red) and the other one looks good at first glance but has a slightly rusty arch - could be cleaned with a wire wheel and Kurust and probably last a good while, this one is in White Gold 2.

I think i may have a pair of Mk2 indicators, from what i remember the wings are interchangeable (people have put Mk1 wings, bonnets and headlights into MK2s to give them the "grille-less" Mk1 look) so if you could find a left hand Mk2 wing, you could swap both wings and the indicators. Would give a slightly unusual look to a Mk1 but only true 800 enthusiasts would know the difference, especially if you splash some paint on the wings so they sort of match.

I'll check if i've still got the spare indicators later, meanwhile if that idea sounds good drop me a PM - it would get you through the MoT (if you can find a left hand wing) and give you time to find a decent pair of Mk1 wings or have them repaired as and when the budget allows. :D
Cheers,
Dave
