Front plate seems to be spaced for some reason?

Does it say something I'm not seeing?

Hi Tony

Thanks for that, i cant quite tell but i think it might be the same colour as mine.

It is nice to see the back end of the car has been left black rather than colour coded. I am fairly confident that this is a Speke built car, i wonder if it is a four or five speed.

I thought the same as you Chris about the front number plate.

Doesn't look like the rear is the same which is odd.

As far as i know i would say it looks like Tahiti blue and that would be correct for that year. I don’t believe pageant blue was introduced until much later approx 78.It definitely isn’t pageant blue. I’m certain its Tahiti.
You don’t see that many of that age. I like them and always have.
Always remember Purdy in the Avengers had one a P reg so it was an early car.
There was also one used in a TV programme called The Wilde Alliance staring Julia Foster and John Stride.
Early episodes of the Professional also had one

I think mit's Pageant. I had a Tahiti TR7 in 1978 and kept it til about 1981. That was a 4 speed with the blck Bri Nylon seats, black rear panel, black hub caps. PDH 251R, by the way, from Hewitts of Walsall.

The silver, more shaped hubcaps, like on the car pictured, were only on the later Canley built cars from about 1977. These had the colour coded back panel and the tartan seats and the SD1 5 speed gearbox. This is all from memory so I apologise if any of this is incorrect.

My guess is that the car is a later Pageant Blue Canley built car with a satin black back panel added by a later owner.

Well i am not sure if it is pageant blue or tahiti blue in the light from the pictures. The badge on the front is the "Speke" badge and the silver wheel trims came in from early 77. Mine has these - as well as the lovely red tartan trim and hand crafted at Speke in May 77, inbetween strikes.

The only sure way to tell where it was built would be to look at the chassis number, the Speke built cars started with ACG....

Here is quite a good link about the factory...

OK i may be wrong but i still think its Tahiti blue. Pageant is much lighter and brighter and i also say in 77 they didn't use that colour on the TR7.
That should keep the debate running.
Tahiti is much darker and almost lifeless in comparison but that doesn't mean to say i don't like the colour.
