Hi Ive been getting quotes for insurance for a 800 vitesse coupe that I'm buying and at first I was shocked at the quote £1300 tpft what a joke and that didn't include the mods anyway I'm 23 years old with 4 years ncb and I thought I could get it cheaper so I phoned up Adrian flux and they told me the price..............£454.00 including the mods. I'm happy with that but it begs the question why on earth is insurance prices so varied? Also they said the reason my insurance is so cheap because I live in the lowest risk area. _________________ i want lots of british cars got 1 want more |

That is the perrenial question, why the enormous variation. My Nephew's premium shot up to over £600 on his 406 Estate (from around £350) A quick scan showed he could get it cheaper eleswhere but his present insurer dropped the price to just under £400 when he phoned to say he was leaving them. Good job you don't live in London Thomas _________________ Brian Wolsoncroft

Sometimes they just want to discourage certain drivers - if you don't fit their "safe driver" profile they will just price you out of it. _________________ Site owner (for my sins)

i change mine just about every renewal now as it always goes up. i am 47 this year, havent claimed in over 20 years and live in a small village yet it still increases. always shop around, loyalty doesnt count for anything these days.
when i bought my son his first car 214 sei, as a newly passed driver age 19 they wanted £2500 . thecar only cost £360. just another rip off.
its no wonder so many people chance driveng without insurance these days as it seems you will pay less for the fine |

You can laugh.
I just lost both my NCB, and in the same swift movement, my GTi and my Vitesse.
Now I can't afford to insure anything, in all likelihood until I'm 25, so I will be as some bikers insist 'the definition of a real biker, riding in all weathers', for several years.
Wanna rave about insurance?

now thats what i call a real biker, not one of your fine weather boys as i call them. I had a bike as soon as i left school and started work, used it in all weather from 17 to 25 years of age when i decided to buy a car and use to travel 40 miles return journey for work. |

So far, my take on it has been, why would you CHOSE to ride a bike and get wet, when you have the option of a nice, warm, dry, luxurious car. _________________ Vard.

i did 8 years on a bike before i decided to get a car and take up driving and didnt have that option i did use a bike for a couple of years after that but then i got married and got soft i would buy a big bike again if i was working now the kids are grown up. i like driving the car but a bike gives you such a buzz. used to work in a bike shop and was lucky enough to borrow bikes for the weekend, my boss was great. are happy days.
have you checked out what the insurance will go up to when its due for renewal, may not be as bad as you think if its you first accident and have a cleanl licence. hope its not to bad for you, Bren |

I mean your situation is extreme but what I'm getting at is how can insurance be so varied? As I said before that I'm in the lowest risk area so I didn't know why my quotes where so low then high. _________________ i want lots of british cars got 1 want more |

well my son was told when we were looking to insure his first car, if he was a girl they could half the premium regardless of the lack of no claims bonus. work that out, all a con if you ask me. i have given uptrying to understand it all long ago |
