New eBay tool shop with discounts for Rover800 forum members
Hi All,
as some of you who know me will be aware, for a long time i've not been able to work due to medical reasons. Rather than sit back, dumb, fat and (not very!) happy, i've done something about it!!
It's early days but i've opened a tool shop on ebay and to help out other club members, i will offer a discount on the price advertised on ebay. All i ask is that you find what you'd like on ebay and then PM me here to sort the deal out.
Basically the price you get will be cost plus a small amount to cover paypal fees etc. While this may not seem to be a great discount against the ebay listing on some items, you will still be getting it cheaper! Also i don't make a great amount on each item but if i get enough sales then at least i should be able to make a reasonable amount through ebay.
Please feel free to have a look at my ebay shop and make suggestions or requests for tools (and gadgets!) to be stocked - in this way i can tailor it to be a useful shop for everyone!
My ebay ID is davidgizmorusty and the shop ID is Big-Daveys-Tools-plus, here's a link to it that will hopefully work!!
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Big-Daveys-Tools-plus?_rdc=1
Don't forget that to get your discount you will need to PM me here and the transaction will be conducted off ebay or the ebay fees would have me paying you to take the item! Paypal would seem to be the most obvious way of doing it, though i'm sure if one of you doesn't have Paypal then something else could be arranged!
Look forward to seeing you there!!!

The way it works on Firefox is if you are using tabs, right click on the tab then select "bookmark this tab" followed by your choice of either into the bookmarks toolbar or the bookmarks sidebar. When you want to visit a bookmarked site, just click on the relevant bookmark in the side bar or toolbar. Not sure i've explained it that well but hopefully that will give you a pointer to sussing it out Mick!
Not sure if it works the same way for Internet Explorer, i try not to use it as it's so slow!! Also the security on Firefox is exceptionally good so i only use IE for one particular thing.
HOPe that helps a bit, maybe someone could explain it better than i can?

Thanks for all the positive comments everyone!!
Phil - feel free to lose your wedding fund buying tools etc!! Just don't tell your fiancee/wife i encouraged you!!
Richard - i see no reason why i couldn't extend the offer to "related" websites/fora as the discount comes from not having to pay the ebay fees. Just PM me and i'll send back my email (it's a different email) address for whoever to contact me about the item(s) they would like. In fact, it would be helpful in terms of finding the most popular lines to list on ebay as different people would almost certainly be after different things.
I'm hoping if sales permit (money in other words, lol!!!) to set up a website independently of ebay which will hopefully enable me to list a lot more products and get a more structured discount scheme which could be accessed by some sort of discount code published on here.
General sort of comment on what's listed on ebay so far - this is really only a sample of what i can supply as the range i have available runs into thousands of products. I've had to start somewhere so i've gone mainly for the sort of things i'd like to see if i was looking for useful tools etc. so any comments/requests for other products will be gratefully recieved!
Also the postage/shipping costs can be combined for multiple purchases, this can represent a considerable saving on shipping alone!
I'm thinking of running a monthly promotion on certain products too - the idea i have at the moment is 3 related products discounted by 3% for 3 days, doesn't sound a lot but with the combined shipping costs for all 3 items, this would give a better total saving. Or maybe a 5x5x5 deal instead..........
Keep the comments coming please, good or not so good!! I'm sort of feeling my way here so any input will be useful!
One last thing - the compressor i have listed on ebay for £99.95. It is collection only from the warehouse in Ruislip and i'm guessing for a lot of you this would make it not such good value as the fuel costs would push the price up a bit. That said i believe even with that it's still cheaper than the equivalent offerings from a lot of places but i was thinking if a few of you got together to buy one each and then split the fuel costs and just one person went to collect with an estate/van/trailer or whatever it would be more viable. This way i could offer a bit more discount than normal which could go towards the fuel costs - would this be helpful?

Glad you found a way to do it Mick! If you ever fancy upgrading to Firefox, you can get it free at http://filehippo.com/
Also things like C-Cleaner and Defraggler, they clean your hard drive and rearrange it to make it run faster, like having a new pc again! Ok the Windows versions are similar but IMHO not so good.

Richard - if you'd like to add it to your cross-post on the Postwar Classics site, that's fine.
Everyone else, feel free to email me on it with your enquiries for tools. If it's not listed on ebay, let me know what you're after - i can probably get it!!
