Well i thought i should really keep a record of what im doing to this beast so starting a project thread for it.

Its a 300tdi, good condition except from the body lol as you will see in the photos!

raised 3" all around
Uprated shocks and springs
A few poloy bushes
Lots of lights
EGR blanking kit
Down pipe and Decat done
Over sized tyres

Well i knew it was totaly solid where it counts... but... emm the body was not haha.

But its getting there now, kris has been cutting, shaping and welding for 3 nights now lol, one side now finished and a thick coat of under seal on!! one more side to do :twisted:

Body rot is a constant issue with Disco's and its siblings Chris.

I have a J plate D1 on the drive that although looks fairly straight, the underside is completely shot.

It certainly was when I was in the RAF. One day, after an in-flight airconditioning compressor failure (which filled the aeroplane with smoke), I asked the Wing Commander in charge of engineering what had been wrong with it.

His reply was "It was well f***ed".

As far as I'm concerned, that makes it official terminology.

That offroad driving must be great! I remember driving a small 6 wheel lorry, in the military and it was great fun driving an offroad course they had! We hade to put on the snow chains once in about 50cm of mud. A challenge!

Welding is pretty straight forward in those areas, and really fun aswell! I love the way the metal is forming around bends by the aid of a hammer. Once the sheet is welded in one place it's just a matter of banging hard really and making new spots in the process. Great stuff Crome! Keep us updated! :lol:

Ah my brother drove one of those in his military service and I went a couple of times with one during my service. Fantastic machines however made of plastic so... :roll:

Well, that one is a Dutch Navy one so they were probably so excited by the sight of some hills that they forgot to get the white paint out. The machine gunner isn't immediately obvious, is he?

that is a great engineering assesment term haha, explains it very well and can be used in a huge varity of problem!
yea, its only the body that is buggered, if the chasie was rotting away too i would have striped it, kept the good parts and scrapped the rest i think.

Yea kris is really enjoying the welding, its his first car he is doing him self! has learned very fast. ill be having a shot next hehe. :)
